Guernsey’s answer to Strictly Come Dancing – the Guernsey Dancefloor Challenge – takes place at the end of April and this year, Imperium Director Rhona is one of the competitors. She has been training extremely hard with partner James Greening, who is Sales Manager for a local distribution company. James won the competition himself in 2010 and having caught the dancing bug, has subsequently taken part in a number of competitions in the UK. The pair will be performing the Paso Doble and the Group Ballroom and James has been putting Rhona through her paces anything up to four times a week as they prepare for the gala events on 28 and 29 April.

Rhona and JamesRhona is really enjoying the challenge and admits she has become a bit of a  ‘dancefloor bore’

I have never done any formal dancing before this competition and I am really enjoying learning a new skill and look forward to being able to dance properly with my Dad. I am turning 50 this year and was excited to be offered the opportunity to take on the competition in what I hope will be a year of firsts and adventures.

The event is supporting two charities – Guernsey Amateur Dancesport Association (GADA) and Safer, a charity that supports victims of domestic abuse and their children.

15 couples in total will take to the floor at what promises to be another fantastic event. Good luck everyone (particularly Rhona of course!).
