The Imperium team joined around 200 islanders on October 12 in Guernsey’s first mass charity bicycle ride in the dark. The event was organised to raise funds for the charity Fight for Sight and encouraged cyclists of all ages and abilities to take part in one of four carefully designed routes ranging from 10 to a challenging 100 miles!

Since 1965 Fight for Sight has raised funds to support medical research into a wide-range of eye conditions. These include macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retinopathy as well as the causes of childhood blindness. Fight for Sight also funds research into a large number of rare eye diseases. The charity is the largest in the UK dedicated to funding eye research.

Imperium director Rhona Humphreys and her team which included Jackie Page and plus ever supportive husband Russell took on the “Moonlight Meander” covering 25 miles with a couple of well-earned pit stops at local hostelries so rumour has it!

Despite their aching legs said they would do it all again next year – maybe next time they will tackle the 100-mile Nihilist Nocturne route?
